Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe is just dumb

Does anyone else think that Mortal Kombat vs Dc universe is a dumb idea?
I’ m  trying to make sense of it but all i could think is…why?
I mean its just so stupid it sounds like a joke from a bad sitcom, “Hey man who do you think would win in a fight? Indiana Jones or Ted Koppel?”

I mean I’m all for cross-over games but come on. This is like putting Gran Turismo against Motorstorm or making Sam Fisher fight Marcus Fenix. They are two completely different styles of existence. For them to cross or one of them is going to have to change to the point where they become something they aren’t and then whats the point of a cross-over like that. You need cross-overs where the contributing elements compliment each other not cause conflict.

Either Mortal Kombat gets a tone down in the violence and becomes just another fighting game with the Mortal Kombat characters ie. not Mortal Kombat or DC comics gets dark and violent and little kids get scarred by images of Batman stabbing Sub-zero in the eye with a bat-a-rang or Superman just actually
killing somebody. Or maybe they find a middle ground, in which case the game becomes dull and standard with nothing really standing out leaving the novelty of the cross-over being the only selling point.

But maybe I am wrong. Maybe the game will be great. Maybe I’m just a Mortal Kombat fan waiting for the great Mortal Kombat game that should be but is now disheartened as he realizes that it may never come.
I own Mortal Kombat: Deadly alliance, Decpetion, Armageddon and Shaolin Monks. Now Shaolin Monks is a
great multiplayer game, genuinely fun but as for the others. I cant say i wasn’t disappointed by them. The “Kombat” was slow and klonky with the special moves so poorly integrated into the game that attempting to execute them almost always resulted in your death. To top it off the gore level was pretty disappointing in some cases actually being lower than previous games. Fatalities although gruesome had little or no impact on the player and it was so poorly presented with people exploding into balls of brown “meat”, heads popping off like a pen caps and necks comically stretching like and old radio antenna.

I dont know about everyone else but to me Mortal Kombat always had an average fighting system but what made it great was a pretty decent mythology and an insane level of violence that you couldn’t find anywhere else. To stray away from that seems like a mistake to me. When will i get my Mortal Kombat game with tearing skin, bone breakers, ripping open a man’s chest and actually seeing inside in detail, bones sticking out through the flesh. A Mortal Kombat game with fatalities that would make even the most avid horror fan cringe, go beyond the detail any other game has done before and stir up controversy like it did back in the day. Its not Mortal Kombat unless its banned in Australia.

I understand games need to evole and change but it just seems like we havent had a true mortal kombat game since Mortal Kombat 2 or maybe Ultimate.
Mortal Kombat vs DC universe just seems like a cheap attempt to revive a franchise that is dying beacuse of a generation of mediocre games that abandoned its main appeal in the first place.

Its seems we will never get another good Mortal Kobmat game that would step up the principles that it was built on. Or maybe i just don’t get the point of Mortal Kombat games. I dont think i am alone here.

But i guess my only hope lies in the rumor of Killer Instinct 3, which if really is on the way will give us the true Mortal Kombat sequel we have been waiting for since MK2.

Mortal Kombat VS Killer Instinct….now that would make sense.
*sigh* i guess i could always dream…Fulgore vs Scorpion….FIGHT!!!

    And when I heard of this title, I really instantly thought it was stupid…

    I continued to read a bit on it through forums etc…and saw the waves of mixed comments on the idea.
    To tell you the truth, after that bit of reading, I was unimpressed and I’ll be skipping this totally.

    I am with you on still waiting for the great Mortal Kombat Sequel.

  3. I disagree completely. I am really looking forward to this game. I am a Mortal Kombat fan, have been since the start. I am also a DC fan. Mortal Kombat has always had a good storyline, I am guessing that they will have a storyline for the crossover. This game will be a blast, that is the whole point. It is suppose to be fun and this will be.

  12. I personally think this game looks pretty good. The only problem is its coming out on a loser system. This should be released on the Wii.

  13. I thought the whole idea was cheesy, after playing it however, I love it! I’ll prolly even buy it. The storyline is really neat in my opinion ;)

    A great Idea Fulgore vs Skorpion…fuckin Rare faggits use to switch 2 Microsoft just 2 bring out fucked up games like Perfekt Dark Zero…back in the Day´s i ran in the store just to get that fantastic awesome game on the N64…that game was the last big thing from rare plus star fox planet on the cube…after that all the games looses there wonderful flair from the good old big N days…feelin me?
